Originally a fruit and vegetable walled garden for Beechpark House, in the 1980s, David Shackleton transformed it into a garden, renowned for its plant specimens. The garden was so famous that people travelled from all over the world to visit it. Restored and reopened in 2017, by Fingal Co. Council, it is one of Clonsilla's heritage treasures.
Clonsilla & Porterstown Heritage Society (CPHS) are delighted to participate in Heritage Week. Join John Harrington for a guided tour, of Shackleton's Garden. John led the team who restored the garden, so as well as learning about the rare plants, you will learn about how the walled garden was restored.

Please dress for the weather, as this tour will be outdoors. CPHS will provide light refreshments afterwards. The tour is accessible, to all mobilities and free parking is available beside the garden. The garden can also be accessed by train and bus.
Please note that the entrance to Shackleton's Garden is along a long lane, immediately south of Clonsilla train station.
