Guided Biodiversity Hike - Glen of the Downs

15 Lúnasa, 10rn - 12:30in

  • Glen of the Downs Nature Reserve
  • Co. Cill Mantáin

Celebrate Heritage Week with a guided biodiversity walk through the beautiful Glen of the Downs, one of Wicklow's most treasured native woodlands.

Join Dr Anthea Lacchia, geologist, qualified mountain leader and palaeontologist, and Dr Kamila Kwasniewska, botanist, qualified lowland leader and forest bathing guide, for a relaxed and engaging exploration of this remarkable woodland. Together, we combine our expertise to reveal the stories of the landscape, from the ancient rocks beneath your feet to the native trees, wildflowers and fungi that make this woodland so special.

Along the way, you'll learn how to identify common native species, discover their ecological importance, explore the geological history that shaped the Glen of the Downs, and gain a deeper understanding of why protecting Ireland's native woodlands matters. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions, observe wildlife, and appreciate Ireland's natural heritage at a gentle pace.
