We are very proud of our musical heritage in Nenagh and in particular our links with the songsmith and poet, Shane MacGowan. In his memory we provided a spectacular mural in the town in 2024 by Tipperary artist Neil O' Dwyer. This is a tribute to Shane and his life and was provided over a 9 day period. We captured the images of the foundation of the mural day by day and have put together a display of same based on the photography of Odhran Ducie. Going from blank canvas of the gable wall, through the preparation and the day to day progress as the full picture was completed, these images will be shown on screen in Nenagh Tourist Office throughout Heritage Week - Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Watch the artist at work. Watch how he prepared the grid and added the detail. And then view the finished product. Also on view in the Tourist Office are images of Shane MacGowan, the Shannon Rovers commemorative jersey and books by Shane's sister, Siobhan and his wife Victoria Mary Clarke.
