Fingal Historic Water Pumps, A wander round’ the wells of Naul

Standing proudly on village greens, coastal streets and rural laneways is the iconic cast iron water pump - a much loved architectural feature of Fingal’s streetscapes.

While the village pumps no longer function as a source of fresh water, they serve as a reminder of our recent past and how life in rural Fingal has changed in recent decades.
They remind us of the necessities of daily life, our social history and water heritage.

Once busy meeting points of chatter and gossip, now commanding a more lonesome presence amongst our streetscapes.

Join Ian Lennon for a tour of the wells and pumps of Naul Village, where an overview of the history of water pumps in Fingal will be discussed along with stories of the pumps from across the county.

Meeting outside the Cottage Cafe, Seamus Ennis Arts Centre @ 2pm.

Refreshments will be served afterwards in the Parlor of the Cottage, The Seamus Ennis Arts Centre.

Please wear suitable foot wear as we will be walking around Naul Village for 40 minutes. Parts of the village are uphill. Please bring a light raincoat.
