As part of National Heritage Week 2026, join us for a guided "walk and talk" along Castle Street, Tralee on Saturday 22 August at 11.30am. This engaging event will explore the rich architectural, social and cultural heritage of one of Tralee's most historic streets.

The tour will be led by Conservation Architect Oisín Creagh, who was involved in the 2025 Historic Towns Initiative (HTI) project, alongside local historian Laurence Jones. Participants will learn about the historical development of Castle Street, its significant buildings and streetscapes, and the importance of conserving and protecting Tralee's built heritage.

The walk will also highlight conservation and regeneration works supported through the Historic Towns Initiative, demonstrating how heritage-led investment can help revitalise historic town centres while preserving their unique character and sense of place.

Suitable for anyone with an interest in local history, architecture, heritage conservation or the story of Tralee, this event offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into the past, present and future of Castle Street.

Booking is not required. The meeting point is outside Slieve Mish Bar. The event will involve a short walk along the street, and participants are advised to wear suitable footwear. HTI funding and support will be acknowledged throughout the event.

Duration: Approximately 1 hour.
