‘Iorras ón gCartlann’- Taispeántas Grianghraf Erris from the Archives- Photo Exhibition

‘Iorras ón gCartlann’- 'Erris from the Archives' is a free photo exhibition running from the 17th to the 22nd of August in Áras Inis Gluaire, Belmullet.

The exhibition features over 70 photos of people and places in Erris, from the 1930s to the 1980s, from the National Folklore Collection, as well as stories told by the people photographed.

From the 1930s to the 1960s, folklore collectors from the Irish Folklore Commission visited Erris to record the area's rich stories, traditions, and customs. During their work, photographs were taken of folklore informants and the surrounding landscape. These images offer an invaluable insight into the lives of the people who lived and worked in the area.

Step back in time and experience Erris as it once looked, and the stories and memories shared by the people who lived there.
