Ellen Hutchins and Moss and Lichen: A 21st Century Conversation
We are delighted to welcome American academic and author, Elizabeth Lawson, to the Festival. In a Literary Festival style session, hosted by Lil Stevens (senior curator, bryophytes collections, Natural History Museum, London) Elizabeth will explore Ellen’s contributions to the study of moss and lichen, and what Ellen might appreciate from a reading of her book, Moss and Lichen, published by Reaktion Books last year. https://reaktionbooks.co.uk/work/moss-and-lichen.
Friday 23rd August 6pm Bantry Library, Bridge Street, Bantry. Free
After the talk and a Q&A, Paul Bolger of the UCC Sustainability Institute, who oversaw the naming of its headquarters building as the Ellen Hutchins Building in 2022, and Madeline Hutchins researcher on Ellen and her great, great grand niece, will join the conversation.
To end the evening, Festival organisers Clare Heardman and Madeline Hutchins, will say a few words about the ten years of the Festival - since its inception in 2015.
