Echoes of Aughagower – Heritage Day
Join us for Echoes of Aughagower – Heritage Day on Sunday, 16th August, celebrating the rich history, heritage and community spirit of Aughagower.
The event begins at 3.00pm in the Aughagower Community Centre, where award-winning RTÉ News presenter Ray Kennedy will officially launch our new Aughagower Heritage Trail website.
Visitors can explore the trail through QR codes located throughout the village, providing instant access to historical information, maps, photographs, audio recordings and videos, making our local heritage accessible to everyone.
From 4.00pm, the celebrations continue throughout the village with heritage exhibitions, traditional crafts and demonstrations, local history displays, music and entertainment, children's activities, food and refreshments, and the exciting live lifting of the Clochundra stone by professional strongmen.
Whether you're interested in history, culture, or simply looking for a fun family afternoon, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Admission is free, and everyone is warmly welcome to discover Aughagower's past, celebrate its present, and help preserve its heritage for future generations.
