Dr Aengus Finnegan - Westmeath Grand Jury Presentments: A Source for Researchers

This talk from Westmeath native, Dr Aengus Finnegan of the University of Limerick, focuses on Westmeath Grand Jury's presentment abstracts books.

Aengus will explore the research potential of these books for local historians, historical geographers, genealogists and anyone interested in the historical development of their local area, placenames and particularly roads.

He will also draw on his experience researching sources for the Westmeath Field Names Recording Project and Townland Names of Westmeath Project.

This event is being organised by the Westmeath Archivist, as part of a Heritage Council funded project to digitise Westmeath Archive's presentment abstracts books this year.
