Down the Crooked Glen – A walk along the River Camac

20 Lúnasa, 6in - 7:30in

  • Lansdowne Valley Park
  • Lansdowne Valley Park
  • Co. Baile Átha Cliath

Join the Irish Wildlife Trust, Dublin 8 Green Bridge Forum, and Inchicore Environmental Group for a Heritage Week nature walk in Lansdowne Valley Park, Drimnagh.

Tracing the banks of the River Camac, we will identify local plants, birds, and insects, and discuss why spaces like this linear park are so important for urban biodiversity. The walk will include access to the old pitch and putt course which is being rewilded, thanks to Dave Moore of Dublin City Council. We will also touch upon local history and heritage, exploring the cultural significance of natural spaces in our cities.

Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes, as the ground may be soft if it is wet.

The theme for Heritage Week this year is “Heritage at Risk”. At a time of accelerating environmental change, social transformation, and technological shift, the theme invites us to reflect on what is putting our heritage at risk — and how we can respond with care, creativity, and collective responsibility.

Dublin 8 Green Bridge Forum is a community-led voluntary group focusing on blue & green spaces, under the umbrella of the Inchicore Environmental Group.

The Irish Wildlife Trust’s mission is to protect and restore biodiversity in Ireland by motivating and supporting people to take action for nature. We achieve this through assertive advocacy, inspirational rewilding, and building empowered communities for nature.

This event is run with the support of the Heritage Council.
