Dark Skies & Responsible Artificial Lighting for Wildlife Talk

To celebrate National Heritage Week, Clare County Council Biodiversity Office have organised a one hour talk aimed at community groups which will highlight the importance of dark skies and the responsible use of artificial lighting for wildlife. Georgia Macmillan, Development Officer with Mayo Dark Sky will discuss the work of Dark Sky Ireland, share case studies from Mayo, explain how communities can reduce light pollution and outline the Dark Sky Awards for Tidy Towns groups and any other other community groups.

Barry O’Loughlin, Biodiversity Officer with Clare County Council, will provide updates on council projects including adopting bat friendly lighting to benefit the lesser horseshoe bat and other nocturnal wildlife and how artificial responsible lighting can be integrated into Community Biodiversity Action Plans.

The event takes place at 7pm in The Civic Room in the Buttermarket Building, Drumbiggle Road, Ennis (Eircode V95 RR72)
