Dalkey Heritage Trails Launch

Join Dalkey Tidy Towns on Monday 17th August 2026 at 7.30pm at Dalkey Castle and Heritage Centre for the launch of Dalkey’s new Heritage Trails.

Dalkey Tidy Towns have developed 4 new Heritage Trails and an accompanying Storymap to help the public discover Dalkey’s rich historical heritage stretching from Viking times to the present day. Learn how we captured Dalkey’s past with today’s technology.

These trails have been a collaboration between Dalkey Tidy Towns, local historian John Martin and DLRCC’s Heritage Office. They are available to view on new maps displayed around Dalkey featuring the many interesting sites along the way from the hidden histories of Castle Street to Dublin’s primary Viking Port at Coliemore. They can also be accessed by the QR code on the map or storymaps.arcgis.com.

The 4 Dalkey Heritage Trails and QR Code on Dalkey Coastal Heritage Town Map will be available online on the following websites: Dalkey StoryCastle’s, I Love Dalkey, Dalkey Community Council and on DLRCoCo.ie.

This will ensure international, universal access and people can browse the sites without ever having to visit Dalkey! For those lucky enough to visit us the mobile app will be invaluable for anyone wanting to immerse themselves in our local heritage.
