Creating Bronze Age Jewellery! - Hands-on History Children's Workshop
Join Scéal Heritage for the unique experience of creating a Bronze Age lunula (necklace) and sun disc (a possible brooch) from gold foil! This workshop offers the chance to create replicas of the beautiful decorated gold jewellery that survives from the Bronze Age in Ireland, four thousand years ago. Learn about the ways that people used gold to show their power and importance in the Bronze Age, and use some of the same techniques of embossing and relief decoration that were used for decoration of these objects in the prehistoric past.
The workshop lasts approximately one hour, and is suitable for children aged 7 to 13. Places are limited, so advance booking through the library is essential.
