Create an Illuminated Calligraphy Bookmark

Learn about calligraphy and illumination in this little art session and make your own medieval bookmark!

Join Artist Dawn Sayers from 2-3 p.m on Saturday August 15th to learn a little about medieval calligraphy and illumination for an hour at Sigginstown Castle. You will use watercolors to create your own illuminated medieval-style bookmark and enjoy doodling in the margins like the monks of old! Dawn will show you the letters of the alphabet in calligraphy and you can pick one to use as the main character, then fill in the rest with illumination.

This low-cost art session (€10) is suitable for adults and children ages 12 and up (accompanied by parent or guardian). Take an optional tour at 12:30 p.m and be inspired by some of our own illumination-style artwork in the tower! (Separate ticket applies).

Please do not turn down the Cul-De-Sac road or use Eircode as you will need to turn around. The main gate will be open which is on the Norman Way - use Google Maps for "Sigginstown Castle".
