COTHÚ, CURAÍOCHT AGUS CÚRAM – LIVING IN SERVICE TO THE LAND

A celebration of traditional farming life, the knowledge and skills that have evolved with our natural surroundings, nurturing the land and human life. Here in Gaoth Dobhair we are very fortunate too still have this within living memory, and more recently, it has been found that these very methods of tending the land, did indeed benefit, not only people, but also nature herself, the soil, wildlife and the living world around us. Come and join us to rekindle our indigenous wisdom of the land.

On Wednesday 19th an exhibition of old photos from the area of farming life will be on display in Leabharlann Ghaoth Dobhair – 1pm until 4pm. Also, later that evening in the same venue at 6pm, we will have a talk, ‘Foghlaim ón Fheirmeoireacht – Learning from the Land’, with the Farming For Nature Ambassador 2026, Seanie Boyle. He will share his journey with us, from boyhood farm hand to being a voice for positive change on the farm and supporting nature.

THURS – There will be a demonstration of traditional farming skills, as we bring home the harvest.
FRI – 12pm – An Teach Glas – Féasta an Fhómhair / Harvest Feast Party - Come and taste and enjoy the beautiful naturally grown harvest of An Crannóg Community Garden group, grown by Deirdre and the crew, they’ll have a tasty treat to share ( bring the butter and salt ) – Come and Enjoy !

Wed 19th event in the library, Leabharlann Ghaoth Dobhair, is fully wheelchair accessable. The events on Thurs and Fri are not.

Thurs and Fri events are outdoor and on natural terrain, please wear suitable footwear and dress for the weather.
