Common Tern Project -Galway City

The Common Tern rafts in Lough Atalia, Galway City, had a very successful 2024. 64 Common Tern chicks took to he air from 84 eggs laid. 2025 has been a tough year with the return of Avian Influenza. Perhaps half of the colony has been lost but plans are being made to do what we can to grow this important colony. Dr Ian O'Connor (Head of Department, Natural Resources and the Environment) will join members of Conservation Volunteers Galway in a discussion about the project,
