Monkstown Village Tidy District has recently received confirmation from DLR Heritage Office that three additional commemorative plaques will be erected locally. These will celebrate distinguished philanthropist and historian Charles Haliday; the Pim sisters who established the Leprosy Mission, and the historic Juggy’s Well, the primary local source of drinking water for the poor for centuries. Local historian Séamus Cannon will elaborate on the significance of each of these, and suggest some additional candidates for commemoration! He will also display excerpts from Monkstown Heritage, a new website which introduces many aspects of the history of Monkstown.
This free event is co-funded by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Co. Council.
