For three days of Heritage week, the Banagher Brontë Group will host many events in Banagher, Tullamore and on the Shannon, all highlighting and celebrating the connection between the Offaly town and the famous literary Brontës from Yorkshire.
The highlight will be a Gala Garden party on Saturday, the 16 August to launch the latest Brontë book, Let me in: The Brontës in Bricks and Mortar, co-written by Ann Dinsdale and Sharon Wright. Ann is the principal curator of the Brontë Parsonage Museum in Haworth, home of the Brontës, and Sharon, author, journalist and playwright is the author of The Mother of the Brontës. Kay Sheehy, former RTE Radio producer and presenter will be launching the book. It is a very great honour for the Banagher Brontë Group to be hosting Ann and Sharon’s Irish Launch, and to have Kay Sheehy doing the launch.
Booking for this event is essential as places are limited.
On the Sunday and Monday, events are taking place in Banagher and Tullamore including a showing of Dr Maebh O Regan’s latest film, Prenuptial Politics at the Brontë Parsonage, regarding the marriage settlement of Charlotte Brontë, and Arthur Bell Nicholls, a boat trip on the Shannon, a talk on Ballooning by Sharon Wright, author of Balloonamania Belles and Daredevil Divas, and music throughout the weekend by the specially formed Banagher Brontë Ensemble.
Details of all events are available on the Group’s website. https://banagherbrontegroup.com/
