  • Inistioge
  • Co. Cill Chainnigh

Found at the heart of the village of Inistioge, St. Mary's Church of Ireland stands on the site of the former medieval Augustinian priory, founded in 1210 by Thomas FitzAnthony. It is a place of rich historical, cultural and artistic significance.
This talk will be focused on the 1919 east window in St. Mary's, by An Túr Gloine (The Tower of Glass) stained glass artist Catherine O'Brien. The three-light window, Valour, Resurrection and Charity, was donated by Marguerite Solly-Flood (née Connellan) in memory of her brother and parents.
O’Brien’s windows are a lasting legacy of the Connellan family in Inistioge. At the same time, it is an important work of heritage. Today, it is valued not only as a memorial but also for its artistic quality, historical and cultural importance and its continuing ability to shape the experiences of worshippers and visitors alike.

This is a great opportunity to visit both the windows and church in person. The church will be open from 2pm-5pm, with the talk taking place from 3pm-4pm. Please join us for tea and coffee afterwards!
