Camcor and Syngefield Looped Heritage Walk

This unique events consists of a two-hour looped walk. Walkers will meet in the Camcor River Park (by the wildlife information board) for a walk along the river banks, through the town park and along the newly maintained river bank walk to Syngefield Demesne. At Syngefield we will visit the 2025 research project at Clonoghil Castle. This is being undertaken by the Irish Heritage School throughout July and August. Tour participants will get both a tour of the castle structure and surrounding earthwork and learn about recent archaeological excavations here.

The site and river walk are on uneven ground, with no shelter or facilities, so participants should wear sturdy footwear (and possibly waterproofs). After visiting the castle we will return along Syngefield Lane and back to Birr town.

Children are welcome if accompanied by an adult. No dogs allowed.
