Dunmanoge’s historic church ruins and graveyard offer a powerful connection to our past, and our ongoing work highlights just how much these places still have to teach us. As with many Irish burial grounds, records here are incomplete—Catholic parishes in the 18th and 19th centuries rarely kept burial registers, and Dunmanoge reflects that reality.

In 2023, we carried out a full survey and photographic record of the memorials, capturing headstones from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Yet we know many individuals buried here are not represented in surviving registers or on existing memorials. Every name matters, and even a first name or surname can help us rebuild the story of those laid to rest in Dunmanoge.

We invite the community to visit Levitstown Hall to explore the memorial survey, fragments of local burial registers, journal extracts, and other historical material. Our aim is to gather the names of relatives, neighbours, and friends who were buried here without headstones and whose resting places are currently unrecorded.

Drop in and chat with us about how you can contribute your knowledge. Once these memories fade, the information is lost forever—but together we can preserve it for future generations.
