Botanical Art Demonstration with Shevaun Doherty
Shevaun Doherty demonstrates her exquisite art skills live and talks about botanical art. Shevaun has been an important part of ‘Team Ellen’ since the first Festival in 2015 and has painted many plants with a link to Ellen including mosses, liverworts, seaweeds and lichens.
Bantry Bookshop (back room), William Street, Bantry. 10am to 12 noon. Wednesday 20th August. Free. Drop in, or stay throughout - there will be chairs.
Shevaun has won numerous awards including Best in Show at Bloom in 2018 with a watercolour on vellum of a lichen, and a Gold medal this year for her painting of the liverwort, Herbertus hutchinsiae (Juniper prongwort) which is the cover image on the Festival’s book on mosses and liverworts. She also won a Silver-gilt medal this year for her painting of the seaweed, Channeled Wrack, which she collected in Bantry Bay and worked on in Bantry House for the filming of the piece on Ellen Hutchins for RTÉ’s Ireland’s Coast. She paints every day, and exhibits internationally.
Drop in and see her at work, chatting about it and sharing tips and advice. See a portfolio of Shevaun’s work and cards to buy.
