Black Castle Public Realm Project

WCC and Studio idir invite the people of Wicklow Town to get involved in some fun, free, informal events where you are invited to share your ideas for the Black Castle and its surrounding grounds! How do you use it? What would you change? Come along on 21st August or send us your photos beforehand - no booking required.

1. Submit your snaps
Submissions online, 1st-20th August
Send us your photos, professional or amateur, past or present, to be part of an outdoor exhibition showcasing memories and interactions with the Black Castle on the 21st August. Email us at katie@studioidir.com with your photo, the name of the photographer, and a short description of your memories, or tag us in your photograph on instagram @studioidir.

2. Outdoor Photo Exhibition & Walking Workshop
1:30-2:30pm, 21st August, Black Castle Grounds
Explore shared histories and memories of this historic coastland by bringing along your photos of Black Castle, to add to the exhibition, and have your say in the potential future of the development of Black Castle and its surrounding area on this slow walk around the site.

3. Indoor Workshop
4-8pm, 21st August, Wicklow Library
Join us on the top floor of Wicklow Library for a creative, model-making, drop-in workshop exploring how we can develop the Black Castle and its surrounding area. No skills or local knowledge required! Join us anytime; a short presentation on the project will be made at 4pm and 6pm.
