Beyond the Glass Window - Thar an bhFuinneog Ghloine

An ‘open studio’ practical art session for all, families included. Artist, Ben Darnley will guide visitors to look at the stained-glass windows and then return to the workshop room to begin working with individual small panels of coloured cellophane. These works will then be collected and set onto the windows of the workshop room for display.

As part of this day Ben will provide a large scale ‘template’ which will be divided into separate small squares and people will be asked to work on a different square so the by the end of the day we will have a special window which will be a direct reference to one of the Harry Clarke windows from upstairs.

This workshop is designed for folks to come and spend some time working with Ben and be inspired by the stained-glass windows of An Diseart. Getting creative together, Ben will guide visitors to look at the stained-glass windows and then return to the workshop room to begin working with individual small panels of coloured cellophane. Throughout the day, we will see a collection of unique mini masterpieces appear. These works will then be collected and set onto the windows of the workshop room for display and will become a wonderful array of colour and light made up from all the different individuals taking part.
