Arklow Graveyards GIS Project Talk

Join archaeologist Yvonne Whitty and historian Jim Rees for a Heritage Week talk on the Arklow Graveyard Mapping Project, which is recording the Abbey Graveyard and St Mary’s Graveyard.

They will explain the methods used to survey, photograph and map the graves. The talk will also briefly explore the archaeological background to the development of early medieval churches and burial grounds.

This event will highlight how graveyard recording can preserve local history, support family and historical research, and protect important information before it is lost through weathering and damage.
