Cuimhneamh an Chláir presents: An evening of Clare Folklore
With stories from your own parish told by YOU!
FREE EVENT – pre-booking required

Over the next few weeks you are invited to delve into the folklore of your own parish. Resurrect stories from your past told by grandparents or old neighbours.

Do you remember folklore about haunted houses, enchanted lakes or the Hungry Grass? Music from the fairies or lights seen in forts? Meeting the black dog or the death coach on the road? Piseogs, wise women, healers?
Even for those who haven’t heard it first-hand, if you’ve found a story written down, share it; be it the Schools’ Folklore Collection, Westropp’s Folklore of Clare, or an old diary, this is your night to bring it to life.

Find your parish’s stories and share them with us on Sat 16 August at the Bogdale Inn, Kilmaley, 7.30 – 9.30pm. If you don’t have a story but would like to come and listen, you’re just as welcome.

This is not an evening of ‘performance’ or ‘professional’ storytelling, it’s just ordinary people sharing the folklore of their own parishes, re-imagining a time in Co. Clare when beliefs were quite different to today.

The event is free but must be pre-booked.
