A walk back in time: Discovering Kilcormac's Pieta.

Join Kilcormac Development Association and Kilcormac Historical Society for an evening of storytelling, history, and discovery as we explore the fascinating journey of the Kilcormac Pieta.
The evening begins at 7.00 p.m. in Kilcormac Community Centre with a short welcome and introduction, followed by a screening of a short documentary on the Pieta. This powerful film tells the story of the sculpture, its historical significance, and the extraordinary circumstances surrounding its discovery.

Following the screening, participants will take part in a guided interactive heritage walk through Kilcormac. Inspired by the local audio heritage trail, the walk will include stories of notable buildings, landmarks, and moments from Kilcormac’s past.

A key highlight of the evening will be a visit to the site of the local bog where the Pieta was buried for safekeeping. Through an engaging interactive talk, participants will hear the remarkable story of how this treasured sculpture was hidden, protected, and ultimately preserved.

The evening concludes with refreshments and conversation back at the Community Centre.
