As part of Heritage Week 2025, Glenmalure PURE Mile invites you to a picnic on the bog-a celebration of local tradition and nature.
We will gather at the Drumgoff Recreation Area in Glenmalure before taking a short walk to the Parish Turf Bog. There you will enjoy a talk on the rich traditions of turf cutting, including a live demonstration of the traditional tools used.
National Parks and Wildlife Service Officer, Hugh McAlinden will be a guest speaker on the day and will discuss the importance of preserving our boglands and the vital role that they play in supporting native flora and fauna. This event is suitable for families, and we welcome people of all ages to attend. Participants are encouraged to bring a picnic and to relax and enjoy the day at their leisure.

Please note: this walk does include some rough ground and uphill sections.
