Úna Gan A Gúna: Irish Women’s Oral History Collective is delighted to announce that we are hosting ‘Ó Ghlúin go Glúin: A Celebration’ at Cork City Library on Saturday 16 August, 2025!
This event will celebrate the stories of Irish women we’ve collected as part of our ‘Ó Ghlúin go Glúin’ project. Funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs Emigrant Support Programme, this one-year project has connected young women to their Irish elders to record and preserve their stories as oral history interviews. We’ve spoken to a wide range of Irish elders about their experiences as young women in mid-twentieth century Ireland or as Irish emigrants abroad in that period.
Sharing and celebrating these stories ensures that the experiences of women with connections to Ireland are preserved for the historical record rather than forgotten and enables a younger generation of Irish women to benefit from the stories and solidarity of their elders.
At the event, we’ll be hearing from women we’ve interviewed, some of our volunteer interviewers as well as listening to snippets from the interviewees we’ve collected so far. We welcome anyone with an interest in Irish, feminist or oral history to attend!
