'We Sported and Played: The Marina'

A free walking tour covering the sporting and leisure activities that took place in The Marina. Everything from horse racing to circuses, GAA, athletics, rowing rugby, concerts and displays.

'Where we sported and played: The Marina' No place in Cork can match The Marina for the variety of sporting and leisure activities that took place and still take place there. From 1869 onwards a wide variety of leisure activities have taken place across much of its venues, roads and fields. From horse racing to circuses, Gaelic games to rowing. the area hosted them all. These events could be annual such as the Cork Summer Show or one off events such as military displays or concerts.
