Inchicore village retains a number of wonderful twentieth century traditional shopfronts.
These, often overlooked shopfronts across the country, face vulnerability due to rapid commercial shifts, changes in retail trends, and a lack of awareness regarding their architectural significance.
Original elements are frequently lost to overpainting, inappropriate modern replacements, poor maintenance, and the scarcity of specialised traditional craft materials that are no longer in production. This online project aims to draw attention to some of the lovely traditional shopfronts in Inchicore to highlight their intrinsic nature and celebrate their craft.
