This is the 250th anniversary of the celebrated novelist Maria Edgeworth and as connecting is the theme of the European Year of Cultural Heritage we will be reading from her letters.

Our heritage walk will take in the beautiful restored walled gardens of the Edgeworth ancestral home, it will also include St John's Rectory where Oliver Goldsmith resided and where Isola Wilde, sister to Oscar died and is buried. It is also the house where The Abbé Edgeworth confessor to LouisXV1 was born, finally we will visit the Old Schoolhouse one of the oldest schoolhouses in Ireland. Visitors will hear readings from the letters of Maria Edgeworth and members of her family.
