Find out about the results of archaeological excavation at Disert in 2019 from IT Sligo's Dr Fiona Beglane. Reputedly this early medieval monastery was founded in the 6th century by St Colmcille.

The Disert Heritage Project is an exciting project focusing on the archaeological landscape in and around Disert graveyard, holy well and early medieval monastic site. Few people now come to Disert to seek cures from the well, but it remains a place of spiritual and archaeological significance and a spectacular location. The Disert Heritage Project conducted an archaeological excavation in July 2019 and this talk presents the first results of the dig - hot off the press!
