Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter
St Eunan's Cathedral's famous north transept window, created by the artists of An Túr Gloine, which celebrates the life of St Colmcille.
Dr David Caron's talk will focus on the series of An Túr Gloine (Tower of Glass) stained glass windows in Letterkenny Cathedral with particular emphasis on the great north transept window which comprises a large rose depicting scenes from the Life of St Colmcille (designed by Beatrice Elvery), and the five lights beneath which collectively depict the Convention of Drumceat (by Michael Healy). The North Transept window was created in 1910 and it can be seen as the crowning achievement of An Túr Gloine's first decade in existence. David will also speak about the other stained glass in the cathedral including the series of ten decorative clerestory windows which were among the last works designed by Harry Clarke.
