Swift Conservation Mayo has been working with schools throughout the county for several years on swift conservation actions. One of the main actions has been to provide swift nest boxes that can be build into the walls of any planned new school building extensions. This type of swift nest box project is long-term, for the life of the building and thus ensure a core breeding population of swifts in towns. In 2021, Swift Conservation Mayo secured a grant from the Heritage Council to purchase nest boxes that can be built into several new school buildings in various locations across County Mayo.
On Sunday 22 August 2021 from 5pm to 6pm we will host a live zoom illustrated talk on how to build the VivaraPro Woodstone Swift Nest Box Deep into a wall. It will feature some of the projects funded with this Heritage Council grant. The event includes an opportunity for Q&A after the presentation.
