Safari along the Barrow

Safari along the Barrow

Ann Phelan

Sunday 22nd August is Water Heritage Day and to celebrate the wonderful natural heritage that is our rivers and lakes, Eanna Ni Lamhna will be leading a walk along the banks of one of our very best rivers - the Barrow.

This walk will commence at 2.30 pm on Sunday 22nd August leaving from the Boathouse in Graignemanagh Co. Kilkenny. It will take a different route to other years and will go upriver from Graignamanagh. We will see the trees and flowers that grow on the waters-edge. We will encounter special river insects such as damselflies and dragonflies that live and depend on the clean waters of the Barrow. We shall see the river birds and indeed the woodland birds in the surrounding trees. The walk will last for 90 minutes at most. No plant, tree, bird or flying insect will escape her detection and the participants will be regaled with stories of their life and times.

Please contact the event organisers (details below) for the latest information regarding COVID-19 safety measures and to register for this event
