Reimagining Magh Airgid Rois: The Plain of the Silver Birches

This is a video presentation exploring the routes across the Magh Airgid Rois: The Plain of the Silvery Trees or Silver Birches.

The ancient North Ossory Plain stretched across Northern Kilkenny from the bank of the Nore to Tipperary and into Laois, nudging the Magh Airbh. We will introduce the built and natural heritage of this area.

This video serves as a taster to a wider Heritage Council funded collaborative project between Ionad Lachtain, The Acorn Project and community and heritage groups across the region where we will map a heritage route across the Magh Airgid Rois, showcasing the natural and built heritage in the area, exploring the oral history of selected sites on the route and examining traditional skills associated with the landscape.
