Join military historian Tóla Collier as he describes the infantry soldiers of the Williamite war in Ireland and in particular the Grenadiers. A new type of soldier which emerged in the 17th century, the role of the Grenadier was to break up enemy formations on the battlefield and to assault fortified positions such as Athlone Castle. As a result they were considered elite soldiers.
