Milltown’s Heritage walk, Kilderry to Killagha Abbey

A Heritage Walk, Around Milltown from Kilderry wood which overlooks the Maine River valley to the mediaeval Augustinian Abbey at Killagha. This walk aimed to inform people about the local heritage Milltown stretching back throughout ages and blurring the line between myths and history.

To reflect this the walk itinerary featured the following the site of a War of Independence ambush, A hill fort called Fort Angus which has many superstitions related with it. The site of recent archaeology excavations which found another ring fort, local folklore stories from buried treasure, curses on landlords to faction fights feuds.The Mediaeval abbey which is still standing and is a site of particular local pride and before finally finishing off at the mysterious white church and graveyard,
