Kilteevan: Its Highways and Byways

Kilteevan Parish is now served by a network of roads connecting the townlands and their inhabitants. Various historical records and cartographic evidence show that some of these roads are a more recent construction. This digital project explores when they were built together with the Grand Jury system, road conditions, modes of transport, roadside gatherings and memorials, school routes, waterways and ancient routeways. This cursory trip down the highways and byways of Kilteevan parish highlights its history, folklore and traditions.
