Fethard’s Connections to famous historic people
- Co. Tipperary
Fethard Historical Society devised a project about famous historic people with CONNECTIONS to Fethard. All of these people contribute to the wealth of our local history.
Shop windows on Main Street & Burke St display storyboards relating the connection to Fethard of diverse figures such as - Augustinian martyr Blessed William Tirry, Australian bushranger Ned Kelly, Wine makers The Bartons of Bordeaux to name but a few.
Discover why Burke Street is so named, what links a grave in Holy Trinity Church has with the Oval Office in the White House in Washington,
the links go.
We invite locals and visitors to take a stroll during Heritage Week to peruse our storyboards, displayed in shop windows,
and to enjoy learning about the town’s fascinating history.
