Colmcille 1500 Exhibition - Man and Myth

Donegal County Museum and Derry City and Strabane District Council’s Heritage and Museum Service have developed an exhibition on the theme of Colmcille entitled “Colmcille: Man and Myths”.

Colmcille is one of the most important figures in early Christianity. 1500 years after his birth we still celebrate his memory in pilgrimages, stories, poetry, music and books. But what do we actually know about Colmcille? This exhibition will take people on journey of discovery around the world of Colmcille in Donegal and Derry and will try to separate the man from the myth.

The exhibition contains text, images, and digital material to guide the visitor through the story of Colmcille. It also features some family friendly elements so that visitors both young and old can explore the myths associated with the saint.
