Belmullet Water Heritage Walk

Belmullet Water Heritage Walk

Tom Carolan
Belmullet Tidy Towns

Belmullet Tidy Towns propose to develop a water walk around Belmullet town and the townland of Tallagh. The walk will incorporate several water features around the town including Mussels Well, the early 20th-century freshwater reservoir [behind Hospital], and the current town reservoirs which were constructed around 1984.

We are commemorating Heritage Water Day. We will meet at Brogans, Builin Beag/Aldi car park at 2 pm on 22nd August. We will look at the habitats along the shore, Broadhaven Bay and discuss some of the wildlife that uses the bay. We will then continue the walk with Dr Karina Dingerkus along the minor road that heads uphill in a north-east direction, and do a loop around Tallagh Hill, looking at the native flora and fauna and enjoy the magnificent views of the bay. Sponsored by Community Waters programme.
