Ballydangan Bog Red Grouse Project

Ballydangan Bog Red Grouse Project

Pat Feehily
Ballydangan Bog Red Grouse Project

The Red Grouse population has declined by 50% over the last 50 years, while the Curlew has less than 150 pairs (97% decrease). Ballydangan Bog is a core raised bog site for breeding Curlew and Red Grouse.

The project raises awareness about raised bog conservation and encourages local community involvement in the implementation of conservation actions. It involves a range of unique stakeholder alliances.

For National Heritage Week, we will organise a visit to the project site to demonstrate first-hand our conservation work.
