Avoca River Stories - A Discovery of Beauty film

Avoca River Stories - A Discovery of Beauty film

Wicklow Heritage Office/ Wicklow LAWPRO
Heritage Office, Wicklow County Council

This is one of six Avoca River Stories Films. The Avonmore, together with the Avonbeg and Avoca rivers is the largest river catchment in county Wicklow, covering some 650 sq kilometres. It stretches from Lough Tay and Lough Dan in the uplands as far as Arklow where it reaches the sea.

Throughout its course, the waters and riparian corridor sustain a rich biodiversity and transect a landscape and countless towns, villages and places steeped in history and cultural heritage. These films set out to reveal the hidden heritage of this part of county Wicklow and to support local efforts to promote this heritage.

This project was co-ordinated by the Heritage Office of Wicklow County Council in partnership with the Local Authorities Waters Programme (LAWPRO). We wish to acknowledge the funding support from the WicklowCreative Ireland Programme in 2020. We are grateful to Bailey & Blake Film for the beautiful productions and would like to extend thanks to all those who participated in the films and shared their knowledge and views.
