This project focuses on access and display improvements at Ionad Lachtain - St. Lachtain's Church and Heritage Centre in Freshford village in Kilkenny.
We are in receipt of a Heritage Council Grant to improve accessibility and display infrastructure at the St. Lachtains complex.
Following a ten year major restoration project, starting with a conservation plan drawn up in 1990/2000 and funded by the Heritage Council, the OPW and Kilkenny County Council, this project is aimed at building on this work and fulfilling all aspects of the conservation plan and making this very important building and resource accessible to all.
We have organised ourselves into a community and congregation led committee to ensure the future of this facility. We are working very closely with Conservation architect Margaret Quinlan and the local craftsmen from Dunmore | Joinery and Tallis construction. We also consulted with the Heritage and Conservation officers in Kilkenny County Council.
