The hands-on exploration of the wetlands will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The day consists of three x 90min hands-on sessions with a session for parents on the Cosmic Walk for the last half hour. The sessions are timed:9:00-10:30,11:00-12:30,1:00-2:30 and 2:30-3:00.
Each session will feature: exploring the wetlands through orienteering, pond dipping, wet meadow exploration with identification keys and an introduction to wetland mammals.
The final session for parents is buggy and wheelchair friendly. The only equipment needed is old clothes, wellies and rainwear
Séamus Ó Dubhagáin, is a former primary school principal, a qualified ITB and OPW guide, a member of the Heritage in Schools Scheme, and has been an executive member of Cabragh Wetlands Trust for decades. He has introduced a great range of groups from primary school children to active retirement groups to the wonders of the wetlands over many years and has introduced the area to wider television audiences on Nationwide; TG4 and Tipp FM.
