Whitworth Way Walk

22 August, 7pm - 8pm

  • Cross Guns Bridge
  • Co. Dublin – Dublin City

This 1km walk will see us heading towards Binns Bridge whilst stopping along the way to discuss the buildings associated with Iona National Airways (Ireland's first commercial airline), Charleville Tennis Club and Drumcondra Hospital.

Along the route we’ll encounter people from the past like James Joyce, the man who gave us the GPO, one who died in a duel and a local who went down with the Titanic.

We’ll remember the events and people of 1916, the War of Independence and other revolutionary times.

A British Prime Minister will occupy some of our time as will a man who collaborated with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

And of course, there’ll be mention of Brendan Behan and of the local engineer who tariffs forced his emigration to the USA.
