Vintage Steam Train visit to Kilkenny
The Railway Preservation Society of Ireland will travel to Kilkenny on Sunday 24th August hauled by Great Northern Steam Locomotive no. 131 built in 1901. The carriages were built in early 1960's and withdrawn in 2006. The carriages are painted in RPSI colours, blue and cream and are maintained by volunteers in Inchicore Works.
We will bring 300 passengers from Dublin to Kilkenny to enjoy the atmosphere of Heritage week and spend over three hours exploring the city.
On board we will have the Star of Knockagh Accordion Band from Carrickfergus who will play at Kilkenny Castle between 14.30 and 15.30.
Why not bring the children down to see a mode of transport long gone and enjoy the sight, sound and smell of an old steam locomotive.
