The Twin Trees Heywood, Art & Culture Festival 2022, takes place in the beautiful setting of Ballinakill Village & Heywood Gardens, Co. Laois.

The event as always is a celebration of the history and heritage of the former Charter village, and the exquisite Lutyens designed formal garden, at Heywood Demesne.

The main event this year is our Three Day Tutored En Plein Air Painting, which is suitable for beginners and established artists alike!

Day One of this year’s En Plein Air, takes place in the glorious setting of Heywood Gardens, Ballinakill, on August 18.

Day Two's painting is set around the gorgeous woodlands and lakesides of Heywood Demesne, and we conclude on Saturday, 20th August in picturesque Ballinakill Village.

Tickets can be purchased for all three days, or for any individual day.

Other festival events will include a Guided Historical Walk, a Fishing Competition, and Yoga In Heywood Gardens, with Simon Rogers, of Blackhill Woods Retreat.

Visitors will discover a real hidden gem, be amazed by the sheer beauty of the area; from the exquisite formal gardens, the surrounding woodlands and demesne, to the nearby former Charter Village of Ballinakill, which boasts the picturesque Gills Pond and Masslough Lake. Upon leaving our festival all attendees will not only have seen and experienced the beauty of the place, but will also appreciate its fascinating history, from 17th century William Trench, to the 20th century contributions of Edwin Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll.

The tutors for our En Plein Air event, are renowned artists, Jock Nichols and Bridget Flannery, both of whom oversaw 2019's inaugural event, and most recently our 2021 event.
